It is rare that I become emotional when reading a novel. At the end of this one, I wept. A story that moves its reader to tears is a good one, indeed.

I just finished reading this story and I cannot stop thinking about it. From the beginning, I was completely drawn in by this story. The characters were so motivated as they showed what true courage, determination, and sacrifice looks like in the face of such destruction. From now on I will see war, love, and peace in a way I never have before. I will never forget this story.

This was by far the best book I have ever read. From the story lines, the characters, the history, the sadness, the love, the heroism and bravery, everything. I will truly be touched by this book for a long time, if not, forever. I look forward to reading more of Hannah’s books. 10000/10

A heart-wrenching story portrayed beautifully by the author. It takes a most depraved era in history and shows it’s ugliness and beauty co-existing. Well worth investing the time to read; Kristin Hannah champions the human spirit in the face of great adversity. The Nightingale is a must read!

This book was a bit of a slow burn at first, and the characters seemed a little artificial. But the author clearly had a method to her madness, as by the time I got just a bit further in—not the book—the STORY—everyone and everything began to come to life and with such force I was rivetted. I could not put the story down or ever forget these luminous, very real people or their horrendous experience of WW2 France. Most of all, they proved what we want and need in our lives. That love must triumph over hate for our civilization to not only survive, but thrive. This is a compellingly inspired story, and I believe one of the most important ones to read for everyone.
